Our Mission is…
To encourage the effective operation and development of the tourism industry throughout the Land O’ Lakes Region, for the economic benefit of the communities and business enterprise, and for the recreation enrichment of tourists, visitors and residents.
Who Are We?
Land O’ Lakes Tourist Association (LOLTA) – was founded in 1943 by a group of visionary business people. The end of WW2 was in sight & tourist operators knew there would be a huge influx of Americans to the Land O’ Lakes in the coming years. They agreed a collective effort in marketing the Region would be essential to attracting tourists. Initially only serving Tweed & the northern townships of Frontenac & Lennox and Addington Counties, LOLTA has now grown to encompass 9 municipalities. Incorporated in 1976 as a not-for-profit corporation, LOLTA is the Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) for the Region. It has a volunteer Board of Directors elected by the Membership. Through the strength of an increasing membership LOLTA now has the support of 2 full-time employees to market the Region year-round. The LOLTA vision & mandate today remain the same as over 60 years ago – to collectively market & promote tourism in the Land O’ Lakes Region to the world. LOLTA is a vital, growing, and changing organization. It is our responsibility to implement programs which represent the entire Land O’ Lakes Region as a year-round visitor destination.
